Jonathan's personal biography

Biography

Hilary and Oscar my parents met through amateur dramatics, and were heavily involved with Masham Players for many years. I of course came to watch the shows when I was knee high to a stage prop.

My first direct involvement with Masham Players was behind the scenes for ‘Do Me a Favour’ in November 1972. After a break of a few years to go to university I came back in 1983 to help with 'Suddenly at Home'. I was then ‘sound and lights’ until November 1999, when a desperate director persuaded me to tread the boards in ‘Noises Off. ‘Agatha Crusty and the Village Hall Murders’ is my 58th consecutive show and eighteenth appearance on stage with Masham plus one with North Stainley. Who said I should have stuck to sound and lights? All this and I'm still only 32!

Next Performance

Our next show is 'The Flint Street Nativity' by Tim Firth on the 21st and 22nd of November 2025. See latest news for more details.
